Tiny-Talk is a series to highlight different miniatures in our product line.
We have a lot of inventory, (see our catalog here) and sometimes it hard even for us to really envision all the different types of little miniatures we stock.
It might seem strange to try to publish a whole blog post on Turtles and Frogs, but when you have thousands of items that are anywhere from 10 to 40 years old, I think they deserve to get their own blog page!
These Turtles and Frogs were produced in Germany back in the 1970’s and were used for snow globes, and other miniature production items sold and exported around the globe from post WWII Germany.
These are less than 1″ in diameter and were produced in the old world process of hand carving the master piece, that was then cast in metal from a wax mold, and then produced in larger quantities by large scale production machines.
Yes, there use to be German factories with hundreds of workers who produced tiny Turtles, Frogs and lots of other miniatures.
It really was a different time and now the remainder of their hard work is in our inventory.
It was a long road from the original German production, the sale to wholesales, who then when out of business as the owner aged and then allowed to come n and purchase their complete business.
Vendor contacts, old paper records, lots of stories of the past and of course, thousands of turtles and frogs.
So, it you need a sample of a Turtles or Frogs. Email us. We will be happy to send you a few.
I was outside enjoying the garden a few days ago (ok, I was mowing the grass) and I noticed how many springtime bugs were flying about. It got me thinking that we have a nice collection of miniature bugs, all ready for fairy gardens, crafting projects and even model railroads.
So, if you woke up this morning (just like me, and I thought to yourself, I really need to get me some miniature German Ladybugs (or butterflies), well then we think alike. Now just look at all these pretty ladies, standing in a row. Now aren’t they sweet! Well see them all at the Meyer Imports Miniature Shoppe!
While we love glitter, sometimes you needs something different. Well, this is something different, Winged Pink Pigs!
They are only about 2.5′ long, and made from cast resin. They are painted a nice “farm yard pink” and our ready to soar over your fairy garden, train layout, or to just hang around your craft room.
And yes, we do tend to seek out “different” things, and when I saw these, I knew I had to have them for the shop! See them here with all our great fairy garden supplies!

Germany is known for their rich history of manufacturing all types of tinsel, bullion wire and lametta. As we continue to add new products, we are very excited to announce a new partnership with one of the remaining family run factories that still produce these great vintage products.
While similar to Angel or Flower Hair, this real German Curly Lametta is much brighter, shiner and colorful than any other product available from standard retailers.
You see, Flower Hair is just “colored round wire” but to produce real Lametta our partners use an old world production process to roll, treat and plate each strand of wire, before it is twirled and curled.
This is the same process used to create the old fashion Tinsel Lametta, but our Lametta is lead free and safe for crafts, floral and other artistic projects!
Available in our store in nice retail packaging in 17 different colors, with wholesale pricing and 3 & 10 pack discounts as well!
We often get questions about our German Glitter colors and grits (grain) size.
No matter how good our pictures are, you just have to see our Glass Glitters to really understand the difference in quality from normal “craft” glitter and see the difference between Extra Fine and our Coarse grain size.
We are happy to announce that to help you try all our Glitters we have developed nice Starter Kits that gives you an ample amount of our Glitters in 70, 80, 90, and 100 Grit, plus you always get a free sample Glitter Medleys color blend glitter as well!
Each kit gives you a nice amount of Glitter (a full ounce total weight) This is way more than a big pinch, but less than an a standard jar of each color. It is enough to really see the quality, experience the colors and even create some beautiful projects.
